What is age discrimination?
It is unlawful to discriminate against workers because of age. Employers should ensure they have policies in place which are designed to prevent discrimination in:

discipline and grievances
countering bullying and harassment.
There is no statutory upper age limit on the right to claim unfair dismissal or to receive redundancy payments. The default retirement age of 65, is being removed by the Government from 6 April 2011 making compulsory retirement at any age unlawful unless objectively justified.
